How to set a fallback watermark

Conditional watermarks (display rules, credential labels) only render when their condition is met. A fallback watermark covers every photo that would otherwise be delivered without one.

Steps

1. Create a generic watermark (your logo, no display rules, no credential labels), or open an existing one.
2. In the editor, open Watermark settings and tick Fallback watermark.
3. Save. The Watermarks page now shows a Fallback badge on it, and the warning about conditional watermarks without a fallback disappears.

Good to know

• How MyRun picks the watermark for a photo: every regular watermark whose conditions match is rendered; only when none matches is the fallback used. A fallback never appears on top of another watermark.
• A fallback still honours its own Apply to sizes and display rules, so keep it simple: no rules, no credential labels.
• You need a fallback when you use bib-based display rules (they only match in a participant's own search results; while browsing a full album no bib is known) or credential labels (they need the participant's data).
• The Watermarks page marks such watermarks Conditional and shows a warning as long as no fallback is set.
