How to send photos straight from the camera with FTP

Turn on Camera FTP for a MyRun album so a professional camera sends each photo the moment it is taken, live from the finish line, with no computer in between.

Many professional cameras can send each photo over FTP as soon as it is taken. With Camera FTP, those photos land in your album while the race is still running, and participants can find them right away.

Steps

  1. Open the album, click Upload Link in the header and open the Camera FTP tab.
  2. Click Turn on. The FTP access is valid for 14 days.
  3. The card shows the login: Server, Port, Username and Password. Use the copy icon in the card's corner to copy it all at once and send it to the photographer.
  4. In the camera's network settings (or any FTP app), enter the server, port and password. For Username, type the photographer's name, for example Anna K.: MyRun credits every photo sent with it to that name.
  5. Choose plain FTP as the connection type (not FTPS or SFTP).
  6. Start shooting: each photo appears in the album as soon as it is processed.

Good to know

  • Several photographers can use the same login at the same time, each with their own name as username.
  • No photo limit, and it works independently of the upload link.
  • Photos are processed like any other upload: files that aren't photos are refused, and files over 30 MB and duplicates are skipped.
  • Turn it off with the Camera FTP switch to refuse new connections at once; turning it on again keeps the same password.
  • Regenerate password (the circular arrow next to it) replaces the password; photographers then need the new one.
  • Expires on shows when the access ends; the Reset to 14 days icon next to it starts a fresh 14 days.
  • Test the connection with one photo before the race starts.
